Liverpool reaches Darwin Nunez | Sports Desk | The English Giants Liverpool have reached a deal for the signing of their new Uruguay sensational striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica the Portuguese club on a six-year deal for an initial of 64 million pounds.
Darwin Nunez, the 22-year old could become the record signing of Liverpool with the transfer fee as high as potentially 85 million pounds with add-ons.
Benfica says a fee of 75 million euros reaching 100 million euros with add-ons.
Uruguay’s young star Darwin had a brilliant season with the Portuguese side as he bagged 34 goals in just 41 appearances across all the competitions he played for Benfica last season.
The Premier League giants Liverpool’s record transfer came in the year 2018 when the club signed the center-back Virgil van Dijk from Southampton for a fee of 75 million pounds.
Darwin Nunez A lethal weapon for Liverpool
Darwin Nunez has represented his national side Uruguay 11 times, and for the club, he scored 26 goals in just 28 league games in 2021-22 season. Not just that he played a crucial role for the Portuguese side in UEFA Champions League campaign as he scored six goals in 10 games, which included Liverpool in both legs when he played his new team in quarter-final in the month of April. That could be a point when Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were impressed by Uruguay’s new deadly goal-scorer. That made Liverpool go for him in the very next season. It was also reported that the rivals of Liverpool, and Manchester United were also interested in signing him. Liverpool were very close to the Premier League title last season, but Pep’s Manchester City just clinched the title on the very last day when they won against Aston Villa.
Liverpool ended as the runner-ups and also lost the UCL Final against Real Madrid. But still managed to win two cups including the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. Now with the new striker and players coming in the transfer window, they aim to fight for the titles in the next season.
