The contemporary English Premier League Champions Manchester City has agreed to a transfer deal from Leeds United for England international midfielder Kalvin Phillips to Man City. Man City has made its decision and is willing to pay a fee around of 45m to 50 million euros for the midfielder. The deal is not officially completed as Philips still has to agree on personal terms with the new club and of course, go through a medical and pass it.
Kalvin Phillips started form joining the youth academy at Leeds United. Which basically tells that Leeds United have always been a boyhood club for Phillips, he was groomed by playing under the former manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Manchester City seems to be replacing the club legend Fernandinho who just told about him leaving the club he spent nine years and this could happen as early as this summer. City wants to fill the gap that is left by him with the new signing Kalvin Phillips.
Jermaine Beckford who has played as a striker for Leeds United in the past thinks that the 26-year-old Kalvin Phillips can perfectly adjust into the Manchester City and do wonders for them.
Role of Kalvin Phillips
If we look at the stats of Kalvin Phillips at Leeds United he has played a crucial role for them and has always contributed for the team’s win. Like without him Leeds in 30 matches had 26% win ratio as compared to his presence in the team earned a 41% winning ratio for the team.
Not just that Leeds also conceded fewer goals when Kalvin was in the lineup as without him they had 2.4 average conceded goals per game and on the other hand with Kalvin it was as least as 1.3. They also won more points per game as without him 0.9 and with him 1.5 and average goals scored per game with Kalvin 1.4 and without him 1.3. Kalvin Phillips proved to be a pivotal part of Leeds’s successful run and can do the same for the incumbent Premier League Champions Manchester City.
