Story of Faisal Akram – An emerging star of Pakistan Cricket

star of Pakistan “Faisal Akram left-arm wrist-spinner”

Teenage left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram’s beguiling variations have been a salient feature of his short professional career ever since he burst onto Pakistan cricket. Belonging to Multan, the city of saints, Faisal’s obvious potential has allowed him to find success at the domestic level but his journey in the initial years was hindered by a lack of financial support from his family.

Faisal Akram has benefited significantly from the PCB Pathway Cricket Program, which has helped him overcome obstacles on his route to pursuing his passion. The 18-year-old is one of 100 cricketers who have signed contracts with the PCB Junior Development Programme, which aims to improve young players’ talents and cultivate future stars of the game.

Faisal made an early impression on the cricketing world as he finished first in the PCB U16 Pentangular Tournament 2018-19. He continued his performance at the U19 level, taking nine wickets in four games for the Southern Punjab Whites in the National U19 Cup in 2021-22. In the National U19 Championship 2021-22, he took 26 wickets in five appearances.

Faisal Akram said that he is very thankful to the Pathway cricket Programme which provided him and his family the financial support. He also added that he is also very happy to have appeared alongside the 100 cricketers given contracts.

When I started playing cricket, my parents couldn’t afford to back me because of the monetary constraints. The introduction of this programme has paved the way for me to continue my journey and follow my dream of representing the country and playing for a long time.

The spinner recently took part in the first phase of the National High-Performance Centre conditioning camp in Lahore, where he said bowling to some of the game’s biggest names was a terrific learning experience for him.

Further, he added It’s a wonderful honor for me to be able to play with some of the country’s best players at this young age. It will assist me in adapting to the pressures of a competitive match. It’s a fantastic challenge bowling to batsmen like Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq, and I appreciate it because it encourages you to think about different plans.
