England wins ODI series after Jason Roy and Jos Buttler’s performance demolished the Netherlands on Wednesday as England coasted to an eight-wicket victory with nearly 20 overs to spare in the third one-day international, sealing the series 3-0. Roy’s 101 not out was his 10th One-day international hundred in Amstelveen, with Buttler, standing in for injured captain Eoin Morgan, smashing an unbeaten 86.
In a previous match, the Netherlands lost after falling from 203-3 in the 40th over to 244 all out, a total that never seemed nearly enough against a potent England.
The 50-over world champions once more demonstrated the difference in caliber between the two teams by amassing a world-record total of 498-4 in the first ODI before cruising to victory by six wickets in the second match.
Jason Roy and Phil Salt (49) quickly scored to open England’s comeback, but Salt and Dawid Malan were both struck out by Paul van Meekeren with a core on the 85. Buttler, who hit 162 while remaining unbeaten in the opening game of the series, helped Roy achieve his century off 86 balls by hitting five sixes in a spirited performance. Earlier, Brydon Carse had 2-49 and David Willey had 4-36, making him the best bowler.
The Netherlands’ Max O’Dowd, Bas de Leede, and captain Scott Edwards all made half-centuries, but the hosts were unable to capitalize on their strong start as wickets fell often in the final 10 overs.
England wins ODI series with Buttler’s glorious skills
Buttler, who was selected series’ man of the match, stated, “Another amazing victory,” “I felt we played extremely well with the ball to limit them, picked up wickets at vital stages, and another magnificent batting performance.” The commentator said. I’m in excellent spirits. Don’t get too joyful, but keep on going and enjoying it when I’m playing well.
“There’s a lot of cricket coming up in a short space of time, which is very exciting. “We’ve got great depth in the squad with more guys standing up on this trip and pushing up the competition in the squad, which is just what we want to see.”
